Palio de San Michele 2026 in Bastia Umbra: The Great Challenge of the Four Districts

From 19 to 29 September 2026, Bastia Umbra turns into the stage for the Palio de San Michele, one of Umbria’s most exciting historical events, now in its sixty-second edition.

The four city districts — Moncioveta, Portella, San Rocco and Sant’Angelo — compete for the coveted banner through spectacular open-air theatrical Sfilate in Piazza Mazzini, where monumental sets and hundreds of costumed participants stage original plots.

The competition culminates with the traditional Giochi in Piazza and the heart-pounding Lizza race, a breathtaking running relay through the alleys of the historic centre, while the district taverns welcome the public with dishes from Umbrian cuisine.
