Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 6:00 PM in Pisa, the meeting In Search of Ancient Pathogens is scheduled, promoted by the Museum of Pathological Anatomy and Paleopathology together with the Museum of Physics Instruments-Scientific Playroom and the Nuova Limonaia Association.
The talk by Professor Gino Fornaciari is dedicated to the new frontiers of paleopathology and the biomolecular and genomic methodologies that allow the identification of pathogens responsible for historical epidemics. The source indicates the plague as an emblematic case, used to explain how ancient DNA analysis is expanding knowledge of pathogen evolution and their spread in human populations.
At the end, there will be a small paleopathology workshop with four ancient pathological bone specimens and a visit to the Museum of Physics Instruments.
