The Bastion of San Marco within the renowned monumental complex of Castel Sant’Angelo hosts an unprecedented investigation into Roman society between the 17th and 19th centuries. The exhibition interweaves original judicial documents from the State Archives of Rome with a collection of period blades and traditional knives.
Through interrogation transcripts, papal edicts, and popular chronicle testimonies, the display offers a vivid cross-section of daily life and social tensions in pre-unification Rome, providing a direct glimpse into the human stories that animated the streets and prisons of the papal fortress.
