💡 Did You Know…?
The fortress served as a hideout for the bandit Giambellino, who terrorized the area in the 1500s. According to legend, the ghost of a white lady appears on full moon nights. Saint Jerome Emiliani founded the Somaschi order here after being imprisoned and making a vow to the Madonna. The ruins still bear the holes from cannonballs during the 1527 siege.
