The unmistakable scents of the Abruzzo autumn fill the characterful lanes of Canistro for the historic Roscetta Chestnut Festival, the gastronomic queen of the Roveto Valley now in its forty-eighth year.
The distinctive village of Santa Croce comes to life with old cellars open to visitors, copper cauldrons for crisp roast chestnuts, polenta with traditional sauces, typical chestnut sweets and new wine from the Marsica hills. A rich programme of guided walks among monumental chestnut groves, popular songs and roaming music makes the event an ideal destination for discovering the authentic hospitality of the Apennines.
