The ancient medieval village of Paganico hosts one of the Maremma’s most distinctive folk celebrations with the traditional Frog Festival.
The highlight of the festival is the thrilling Frog Palio, where runners from the four historic districts race through the streets of the town pushing characteristic wheelbarrows. Alongside the competition, the event offers a rich food-and-wine route with traditional specialties, artisan markets, and exhibitions celebrating ancient Tuscan crafts.
Evenings are enhanced by a solemn historical procession in medieval costumes, live music concerts, and family-friendly entertainment that keeps the whole community lively until the closing weekend.
